The Prince of Flowers

Flora, fauna, and cartoons are subjects I am most comfortable drawing. I like a vintage surreal look, so I tend to draw botanicals as if they were laid down on a page to diagram into a botany field guide. I also like to arrange things in more of a windswept, naturally flowing vibe. It's important to me to include details that would be needed for identifying plants in my designs. Personally, I like researching new plants by learning where and how they grow. Watching them move in the wind, observing their branching structure, and capturing the entire growing cycle. Caring for so many plants, I have a small arsenal of drawing models, but I am constantly going out for photo walks and seeing what is in season.

I found my love of drawing cartoons when I figured out they have a 'formula'. I've had so much practice now, I can pause most cartoon TV shows and draw them pretty easily. Which is what I do when I have no brain power, but wanna keep my hands moving.
